Todorov's theory on the narrative structure

Todorov's theory states that there are five stages in a film, these stages are:
    1) A state of equilibrium.
    2) Disruption of the equilibrium.
    3) Recognition of the disorder.
    4) Attempt at restoring the equilibrium.
    5) A new equilibrium is created.

 Example: Pirates of the Caribbean
    1) A state of equilibrium = Noble life in a well defended stronghold.
    2) Disruption of the equilibrium = Pirates attack and kidnap Elizabeth Swan
    3) Recognition of the disorder = A chase of the pirates begins.
    4) Attempt at restoring the equilibrium = A large fight against the pirates however they cannot die.
    5) A new equilibrium is created = The pirates are no longer immortal and surrender.
